Shakedown to Guadeloupe
Everyone was ansy to pull anchor and take the boat out for a pre-trip shakedown, so pulled out of Falmouth on December 15th headed south to Guadeloupe. It was a beam reach and we averaged around 8.5 knots, with a big, but gentle swell slighlty helping on the beam of Jolie.
Guadeloupe has a lovely botanical garden just up the hills from Deshais. We hiked up and enjoyed the cooler breeze high in the mountains.
The night before we left Guadeloupe the winds were funneled over our anchorage at Pigeon Island, and so strong, it broke our snubber line. So, the sail back to Antigua the next day was raucous
