Prepping, Prepping, Prepping in Antigua

Testing the New Sails
Jolie was on the hard in Falmouth Harbor, from mid June to September. Antigua is a lonely place in the summer. All the super yachts are gone, and most of the resturants and businesses are closed. Our new crew, Calvin and Ellie worked hard, with the occasional help from the owners, prepping the boat for launch. The work is hot, dirty and sometimes dangerous. Calvin paid the price with nine stitches, while prepping the boat for a tropical storm. He was grounding the keel to the metal cradle, and well, you can see for yourself above.

In late October, we got the boat back into the water and we got to sail her with our new 3di sails. And, in a flash, the World Rally instantly went from a concept that was fun to talk about, to a reality. In two short months, we will be sailing this boat around the world. The four of us alone, in a vast ocean. The reality is sobering.

By late November the superyachts started returning, and quiet Antigua became party central for the Down Below wanna be's. Everyone was ready for a change, so in December, we pulled anchor and headed to Guadeloupe for a shake down sail.
